A cannibalistic monster from the beliefs of the Arapaho Native Americans. Since birth as a child, he slept all day and was never seen eating. During the night however, when his parents were sleeping the child left the house and killed and devoured one chieftain each night. One morning the father saw blood and some flesh on his child’s face and realized what had happened. The father gathered a great assembly of people from the tribes for a huge feast and told them what his child had done. Everyone agreed that the child should be covered in fat and given to hungry dogs to devour. Thus the child was thrown to the dogs but as the dogs approached, the child transformed into a young man. He then used his powers to raise the dead chieftains whom he had killed. The skeleton warriors came to his aid and the people watching fled to their homes. White Old Woman came and challenged Raw Gums saying that the loser of the challenge should die. Raw Gums used his abilities and defeated White Old Woman in all her challenges. He celebrated by smashing her skull open, spilling her brains out on the floor.
