A creature described as looking like both a bear and an ibex. It had huge horns and long shaggy hair with cloven hooves with legs of deer. Like a chameleon it could change the colour of its skin camouflage with the environment. It would do this when being pursued by predators and hunters. It is believed to have lived in Ethiopia and is included in the Anglo-Saxon bestiary of 1220 as well as featuring in the coat and arms of medieval Europe.
