Hieracosphinx

It has the body of a lion and the head of falcon and is representative of the god Horus. It is related to the Sphinx. The name was created by Herodotus (484 BC- 425 BC) the Greek historian whilst on his journeys to Egypt. The Hierarcosphinx is one of three such beasts, the other two being the Criosphinx and typical Sphinx.
