Water Horses (common type)
An Icelandic version of the Kelpie or Each Uisge. This malevolent Water Horse takes the false appearance of a handsome reliable steed and offers itself to be ridden. However when someone attempts to mount the horse, it runs off and carries its rider to the bottom of a lake of which it lives and devours its victim. The Scottish version can morph into a handsome man and a beautiful bird. It is believed that if someone successfully subdues this beast by mounting it they will have a super powered, strong and reliable horse so long as the horse does not see water.
