Firebird
- #1112
Eastern European (culture)
Flying (attribute)
Troublesome (behaviour)
A bird of Russia that had golden feathers, crystal eyes and shone like the sun. It is sometimes known to have an aggressive attitude. The Tsar Vyslav Andronovitch used this creature to steal golden apples. The feather of such a creature was presented to a great Tsar who greedily demanded that he should have the bird itself, alive. One warrior accepted this and set out on his magical swift horse to catch the Firebird. He sprayed the ground with grains and hid in the tree with the horse below waiting. When the bird swept down and began eating, the horse galloped and trod on the wing of the Firebird allowing the hero to capture it.
