A mythical bird of ancient Egypt. Similar to the Phoenix this bird has magnificent power. It arises from a burning tree. It was at first represented by a wagtail but later it took the appearance of a heron with two long feather protruding from its head and red legs. Its image is carved on to the back of scarab beetles which are used in mummification to ensure that the deceased will pass the test of Two Truths and enter paradise.
