- #0393
Biblical (culture)
Aquatic (attribute)
Hellish (attribute)
Deadly (behaviour)
The male counter part of the enormously large Leviathan of Biblical mythology. The Behemoth was so enormous that it could swallow large amounts of land. It is believed that on the day of Judgement the Leviathan would fight the Behemoth in mortal combat. The flesh left from this struggle would provide food for the virtuous people who will survive judgement. In the Muslim tradition the Behemoth is the same as the Bahamut, the fish that supports the earth. In Christianity the Behemoth appears as a white Elephant possessed by the Devil.
