The jackal-headed god of ancient Egypt. A guardian of Tombs and led the dead to Amenti- the halls of judgement. He is adorned with a jet-black cloak which resembles the colour a dead body during the process of mummification and represents the rich fertile soil of the river Nile. Originally he was the god of the underworld, being replaced by Osiris.
