The king of Dwarves who lives in a mighty underground palace with many treasures. Like other Dwarves he is a natural blacksmith and creates many magical items such as the necklace for the Scandinavian goddess, Freya. He also owns a belt of strength, a magic ring and a sword called Balmung. He lived in a Palace made from gems. He gave the Norse hero Sigfried the magical sword Balmung and a cloak of invisibility. Alberich is also the name of an Elf King who guards the treasure of Nibelungen in Scandinavian legend. In the end his treasure was stolen by Sigurdr.
