Abaia is an enormous eel-like sea monster that dwells in the depths of lakes from Melanesia. It protects all of the fish in the lake viewing them as its children. If anyone attempts to catch the fish in the lake, they will be overcome by a tidal wave. These huge waves came from the Abaia who created them by swishing its gigantic tail.
